Have you always wanted your abs to pop out and say hello? The type of abs that poke through a crisp, white T-shirt? Well this article will give a run down on how to do so. Fitness freaks always say abs is made in the kitchen. That’s true to a certain degree.
It’s true that your long-term caloric intake determines whether or not you see your abs; nonetheless, you already have abs to begin with so they are technically not made in the kitchen.
To get “pop out” abs, along with a thorough nutrition plan, you will need to incorporate exercises that forces the ab muscles to growth. Hence, here are 4 exercise and nutritional tips to make those abs come out of hiding.
Brace Your Abs
This tip is courtesy of someone who had phenomenal abs, the late, great Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee mentioned on several occasions how he always braced his abs throughout the day in order to make them stronger.
This technique is wonderful at building dense abs. Personally, I have been using this tip for several years and it has gotten me wonderful results. Throughout the day whatever your doing be sure to squeeze your abs and contract them. If Bruce Lee did it, you should do it!
Drink Enough Water
Everybody has an opinion of how much water a person should drink per day.
Most cite that 8 glasses of water per day is optimal (there is no scientific evidence that 8 glasses of water per day is optimal). In my opinion, especially when pursuing “pop out” abs, drink enough water until your urine is clear.
One of the main functions of water is to rid your body of toxins. When urine is clear, that indicates that all the toxins are cleansed from your body.
Water intake depends on weight, height, age, gender activity level, etc. Nonetheless, if you desire a definitive number to aim for, then 2-3 liters of water per day should suffice.
Hold the Salt
One issue we have in America is we consume too much sodium (i.e. salt). Salt is actually made up of 40% sodium and 60% chloride. Too much salt intake leads to heavy bloating and water retention, mostly in your midsection (for most people).
Of course, that spells disaster if you want abs that pop out. Major health organizations such as the USDA recommend anywhere between 1500 to 2300mg of sodium per day.
My recommendation? Stop adding salt to food. Most foods already have enough sodium in them, especially if you eat or somewhat eat an American diet. If a food taste extremely bland, then a few sprinkles of salt won’t hurt. Otherwise, just hold the salt.
Do Some Sprints
Have you noticed practically all the male and female sprinters have eye-popping abs?
The main reason for that is because they sprint. Sprinting fully engages the ab muscles in order to maintain proper form while pumping the arms and legs.
Along with being a great fat-burning exercise, it develops “pop out” abs. Whether at the track, park or your backyard, do a few sprint intervals.
Run at least 10-20 seconds followed by 1-2 minute rest. So while you may not be competing for the Olympics, at least you will look like it!
